School Policies

A. SCHOOL HOURS

1.       Students must be in classrooms and T'filot (Middle School) at 8:30 bell.

2.       Dismissal at 3:30 (buses at 3:25)

3.       Written requests are necessary for alternative dismissal. Students must be signed out in office.

B. ABSENCES

  1. Children with fever or other symptoms of illness must be kept home.
  2. Contact school if child has contracted a contagious disease or infestation of any kind.
  3. Students are responsible for making up work. 

C. DRESS

  1. Each boy must wear his own labeled kipah.
  2. Shabbat attire (Friday), girls are to wear dresses/skirts; boys, pants other than jeans, shirts with collars.
  3. Warm weather--neat, properly fitting shorts may be worn. No short shorts.

 D. PHYSICAL EXAMS

  1. Complete physicals given in grades 2, 5 and 8. Yearly routine checks are made by nurse.
  2. State law requires that all health forms be returned promptly.

 E. STUDENT BEHAVIOR

  1. Each student is to bring all necessary supplies daily. Books must be covered and cared for. Replacement fees will be charged for lost books.
  2. Students must follow all rules decided upon in each classroom.
  3. Students may not be in classrooms or gym without a teacher present.
  4. Running, fighting, rough play, shouting or use of obscenities is NOT acceptable in school, on the bus or on the playground.
  5. Students who do not follow the behavior code will be subject to disciplinary action.*
  6. A pass is necessary to leave classroom or lunchroom.
  7. Parents will be held financially responsible for willful damage of any kind to the school building or property.

 F. DISCIPLINARY ACTION

  1. Pink Slip (warning note explaining the infraction) - to be signed by parent and returned to teacher.
  2. Second Warning - conference with parent and Administration.
  3. Third Warning - Conference with parent and Administration followed by action to fit the infraction. Entry of infraction into cumulative record.

 G. LUNCH/FOOD/PARTIES

  1. Students must bring a dairy or pareve lunch daily. (ONLY Pareve on Wed.) LABEL lunch.
  2. MEAT NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME.
  3. Wednesday lunch may be purchased thru PTG.
  4. Lost lunches will be replaced with peanut butter sandwiches. Lunches brought in late are to be brought to office.
  5. All foods bought into school must be Kosher. They must be labeled "Vegetable Shortening", "Vegetable Oil" or "Butter". This includes bread, cookies and snacks.
    a. Acceptable Kosher foods are marked U K , K, k
    b. Bakeries must be approved as Kosher.
  6. Decorum
    a. Meals and snacks are preceded by Ha-Motzi, followed by Birkat Ha-Mazon.
    b. Students should practice proper table manners and clean their places after eating.
  7. Parties
    a. School policy requires that celebrations not be held on Shabbat, Yom Tov or in a non-kosher restaurant, so that children who observe mitzvot may not be penalized.
    b. Parties at home or in school might include ice cream and a kosher dairy snack.
    c. Plan with teachers well in advance for in-school parties.
